Her Excellency Ms. Sabine Monauni, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Environment and Culture of the Principality of Liechtenstein, paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on 13-15 May 2026.
During a bilateral meeting with Mr. Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research, Madam Monauni reaffirmed the Liechtenstein’s commitment to assist Moldova in vocational education reform.
Minister Perciun appreciated the consistent investment in Moldova’s human capital through Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) projects targeting skill formation in strategic economic sectors such as construction and renewable energy, as well as supporting the acceleration of dual vocational education and training in Moldova.














The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, Ms. Liudmila Stihi, informed the officials from Liechtenstein about reform priorities and the importance of skills for advancing the green transition and social inclusion agenda.
The delegation from Liechtenstein visited two Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions and the Youth Maker Club Chișinău to observe results of LED-funded projects first-hand.
The Centre of Excellence in Energy and Electronics (CEEE) successfully introduced a short-term training course (C-VET) for Installers of Photovoltaic Systems in 2022 with the support of the Association Education for Development (AED). Subsequently, the CEEE has been supported in green skills formation part of International Labour Organisation (ILO) project: “Skills for an Environmentally Sustainable Transition in Moldova” funded by Austria and Liechtenstein.
Furthermore, the CEEE managed to upgrade the qualification standards, curricula and learning materials in two occupations: Technician in Electronics and Technician in Automation Production Processes part of CONSEPT V project implemented by AED during 2023-2025.
The Vocational School No. 9 was a partner in the CONSEPT project phases III and V which supported them modernise curricula, teaching methods, and training labs for three occupations: Electric and Gas Welder, Plasterer, and Car Electricity and Electronics Mechanic. Another LED implementing partner, the Center for Entrepreneurial Education and Business Support (CEDA), supported VET school no. 9 to successfully conduct driving classes as an entrepreneurial activity under the “CREATIVO” project, co-funded with the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova.
The officials from Liechtenstein concluded their project visit with a tour of Tekwill Chișinău, the site of the Youth Maker Club – the most innovative intervention from LED’s portfolio in Moldova, implemented by the Association of IT companies (ATIC). The officials witnessed a demonstration of a smart home project developed by a young maker.
Throughout the field visit, Liechtenstein’s Deputy Prime Minister Monauni and officials accompanying her interacted with policymakers, directors of VET Institutions, project managers, and students.
The Government of Liechtenstein signed a cooperation agreement with the Government of Moldova in 2007, and since then, over 25 million Swiss Francs have been invested in Moldova’s educational system through various projects.
