Liechtenstein Development Service celebrates its 60th anniversary today, 21st of March 2025.
On this occation, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu conveyed a message to the leadership of LED. As a token of appreciation for the contribution of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the development of Moldova, Her Excellency Mrs. Sandu communicated the following:
“It is an honour to address a message to you as you celebrate 60 years of the Liechtenstein Development Service—an organisation whose work continues to improve lives across the globe, including in the Republic of Moldova.
As a former Minister of Education, I witnessed firsthand the value of LED’s contribution to Moldova’s education system. LED was among the first partners to understand that reforming vocational education is not just about new curricula—it is about creating real opportunities for young people to thrive in a changing world.”
Madam President outlined several results to which LED contributed, such as modernization of VET institutions, pioneering green skills, supporting entrepreneurial activities and innovation in education.
“On behalf of the people of Moldova, thank you for your long-standing partnership. And thank you for believing in our potential. Moldova continues its path toward a modern, European future—and thanks to partners like LED, our young people are better prepared to build it” further stated President Maia Sandu.
LED is the official bilateral development cooperation organization of the Principality of Liechtenstein. In the Republic of Moldova, the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) started its activity in September 2007 with an aim to contribute to the improvement of the education system in general, and of the vocational education and training (VET) in particular. Up to today, LED funded various interventions with a total budget of over 18 million EUR, projects implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Research.
